Tetra Benzyl Galactose is as precursor for synthesis of many active pharmaceutical ingredient and intermediates. It is widely used in the synthesis of intermediates、glycoconjugates、molecular probes、polysaccharide and so on.
Tetra benzyl galactose can be used in the synthesis of Glycoconjugates analogues of Acyclic Uridine Derivatives,and also used in the synthesis of galactose-terminated diacylglyceryl-poly (ethyleneglycol)s.
According to the literature procedure, α-Homogalactonojirimycin (α-galacto-H N J) can be produced from tetra benzyl galactose by the reaction of wittig chain extension and mercuricyclization,it can enhance the mutant enzyme activities in lysosomal storage disorders,and provide a method of treatment for patients with lysosomal storage.
Under suitable reaction conditions,It can be easily converted into fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodide, trichloroacetyl imide ester and other tetra benzyl galactose derivatives with high reactivity.
Then it used in the synthesis of glycoconjugates, such as glycolipids intermediates, having an immunosuppressive for the treatment of autoimmune diseases.
Tetra benzyl galactose can be used in the synthesis of molecular probes, such as biosensors that attach sugar chains are immobilized on the surface of a substrate such as gold,has been proposed as a general biosensor that uses sugar compounds, the polymers can be effectively used for qualitative and quantitative bacteria or toxin analyses.
